Where is the fanfare? Well, the Patriots certainly surprised most of the football world with one of the greatest comebacks in Super Bowl History on Sunday. While I watched it unfold, I kept being interrupted with flashbacks to 2016 and the Election, and while not every detail was an exact match in how it unfolded, there was enough similarity to feel a little déjà vu. This week has been interesting in that we are again seeing some supply vs. demand tug-o-war unfolding in the equities markets. On Monday, "THE BAN" discussion had infiltrated enough communications and conversations over the weekend to lead to a pretty sizable downturn in the markets in terms of the percentage of stocks dropping vs. those going up.

What Trump under fire means for the markets? His inauguration was a mixed day of emotion. Some were eager to celebrate the hope of a brighter future, while others continued their disdain and disgust. The markets have spent the past 60 days or so in a rally, so it's no surprise that we are seeing some steam being let off as of late. Some will try to connect the presidential noise with the release of pressure that has built up, but I would categorize it in the realm of normal market behavior.

We have seen a lot of change and increasing optimism being spread about for 2017. We have been witnessed to accounts increasing and the overall feeling of getting back on track and making headway once again. With all that, I thought it prudent to provide a reminder of what conditions we are in and what we can certainly expect from our future...

2016 finished with a bang, didn't it? The markets had worsened to the point of entering a bear market condition going into the election. At 11pm, the market futures were even indicating a drop of 800 points at the open....and then the unexpected happened!

This past month has been anything but expected. Since the election of Donald Trump as president, the markets began with a short-I mean VERY short-sell-off followed by ever increasing heights of a renewed rally and positive sentiment. This sentiment change has been more about the markets voting in favor of Trump's about-face that has occurred in his behavior as well as his cabinet selection thus far than any other topic or point of interest thus far.
