As I age...
I'm on the back deck of a newly purchased home of a friend and my insurance agent. Our wives sit cattycorner from us, and we are all talking about a variety of subjects when one in particular arises-aging. They are about 15 or so years younger than my wife and I, and as a result, they have different opinions and views than we do. It's no big deal until we all seem to converge on this one single point.
"As I age, I want my life or at least the portion that doesn't interest me to be very simple," I say. Everyone seemed to nod in agreement. "If something breaks on my car, I do not want to be calling around town for the cheapest quote. I want to make one call and know that that person is going to fix it, period. When I have an insurance issue-I want to make one call, whenever that is, and know that you will fix the issue. I do not really care how you do it unless it costs me more than I thought it would or should!" At that point, my agent nods his head and states that even when it's past business hours...like when I'm on vacation (insert eye roll here). My reply is, "Yep."
I relayed this sentiment to my mother last night on my car ride home, and with a heavy sigh, she said Amen to that!
I think more and more people are wanting this kind of connection on a number of fronts, because, with the advent and inception of technology, smart phones, emails, and instant news, our lives are speeding up to a point where time becomes the only real currency anyone has left with any value. Trust is a HUGE factor with me, and I assume with everyone else I meet as well, so it takes me quite a long time to develop it with someone. Assuming that our clients have that same view, we have worked very hard daily to ensure that we are that one phone call clients need make with regard to their finances.
Making one call to a person who can afford to make many is similar to eating your first doughnut after being on a diet for years, I picture...a warm and relaxing feeling. To know that you can just call that one number and know that you have now moved that problem from your plate to theirs with the trust that it will get settled without you ever having to intervene again is a warm and relaxing feeling.
Till we speak again-Boiler Up and Go Irish!

WEEKLY UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 23, 2019 |
The Week on Wall Street
Investors reacted to two major news items last week, one far more of a surprise than the other. The Federal Reserve did indeed make a rate cut, matching Wall Street expectations. Drone strikes on two of the world's largest oil fields brought a shock to the global oil market.
